Southlake, TX (September 5, 2015) – The Eleventh Annual Southlake Invitational was this past Saturday at Bob Jones Park in Southlake, Texas, a new venue for one of the state’s supreme races. Some of Carroll’s top runners had a scheduled week off and did not compete on this new and fast course. Varsity Girls took 3rd place and Varsity Boys took 7th.
Carroll Cross Country Head Coach Justin Leonard said, “We are very pleased with how this year's Southlake Invite went. This year's meet had over 2,400 runners from 69 different schools. I would like to thank all of our volunteers and the City of Southlake for the many hours they spent making this one of the premier races in the state.”
He added, “Our kids ran a well-executed race and we are very proud of their efforts throughout the races. We rested some of our top runners this week and that gave some opportunities to some of our younger runners to step up and compete at the Varsity level. Our JV teams performed at a high level once again this week. We are proud of the hard work and dedication that our runners put into this sport. They truly care about their team and teammates.”
