GRACE received a generous $35,000 donation from the city of Grapevine earlier this month.
On Feb. 6, GRACE CEO Rebecca Cox presented the nonprofit’s 2023 fiscal year report to city council, recapping last year’s successes and addressing upcoming challenges for 2024. Rebecca noted that from 2022 to 2023, GRACE saw a 40% increase in need, and that percentage only continues to rise.
“Meeting that growing need and continuing to do the individualized service that we do toward self-sufficiency for every family that comes through the door while seeing tenfold, fortyfold families asking for that same service I think is going to be our biggest challenge.”
According to the 2023 findings, GRACE assisted 361 families with housing security, aided 679 families with utility expenses, provided ongoing medical care for 5,601 patients and held 739 specialized health clinics. The nonprofit also supplied 11,129 families with $940,000 worth of food and served 34,265 meals to children over the summer. In total, GRACE helped 10,301 individuals last year.
“We couldn't do that without this council and the mayor’s support,” Rebecca says at the meeting. “We really appreciate the support of GRACE and what we’re able to do together in the city of Grapevine.”
