In honor of the many achievements Southlake and itsbrresidents fulfilled throughout 2013, we felt it was an opportune year tobrcommemorate organizations, individuals and everyone in between for all of theirbrstellar moments last year.
On Friday, Jan. 17, SouthlakebrStyle hosted its BestbrOf 2013 event, featuring local celebrities, family and friends. Everyonebrshowed up dressed to the nines at the Hilton Southlake Town Square, where flashbrphotography was extremely encouraged and laughter filled the room.
Yummy drinks and scrumptious appetizers filled everyone'sbrplates and glasses thanks to GrapevinebrCraft Brewery, TX Blended Whiskey, the Hilton and First Financial Bank.
Guests also enjoyed song covers from the young, bold andbrtalented musicians of ThebrRobotix — serenading us with classics such as “Time of Your Life” by GreenbrDay and “Imagine” by John Lennon.
The guest list featured local celebrities that graced ourbrmagazine covers throughout the year, including Fox 4 weatherman DanbrHenry, American Girl’s SidneybrFullmer and Grapevine Craft Brewery founder Gary Humble.
However, the rising star of the night was Southlake Style’s Community Impact Awardbrwinner, MartinbrSchelling.
If there's one thing Martin knows, it's safety, which can bebrseen from the many organizations and units he's spearheaded to keep ourbrbeautiful city of Southlake secure.
As Mayor John Terrell and Crime Control and Prevent Districtbrmember Bob Mundlin took to the stage to speak on behalf of Martin and hisbrachievements, attendees immediately noticed the utmost respect the city and itsbrmembers hold for Martin and his continued success.
Although Martin kept his acceptance speech brief, he made itbra point to acknowledge how grateful he was for the outpour of support and wasbrextremely proud to be called one of Southlake's own.
As the event's success began to wind down, guests werebrpresented with swag bags before exiting the building. The bags featured variousbrgoodies from local retailers, restaurants and businesses, including: the HairbrBar, Truluck's,brGRACE,brRoxann Taylor & Associate Realtors, Whole Earth Provision and Sedo Cryo.
As we put 2013 up on the shelves and begin our descent intobrthe New Year, one thing's for certain: Best Of 2013 was one for the books.
