The next generation of Southlake's leaders got to pay a special visit to the State Capitol last week.
Made in partnership between the city, chamber and Carroll ISD, the Southlake Kids Interested in Leadership is a youth organization that develops its members into future leaders through training, community projects and activities. One of those involved visiting the Texas State Capitol in Austin last week, and SKIL members had a blast learning more about how their government works.
According to MySouthlakeNews.com, SKIL members toured the dome, visited the Legislative Reference Library, explored the Members Lounge and even stopped at the Texas State Cemetery, where they saw the final resting place of legendary Texans. They even got to speak with representative Giovanni Capriglione and former representative Larry Gonzales, who shared their experiences working in the Capitol.
Next on SKIL's schedule is its final project, which is estimated to be completed on April 12, with its city council presentation scheduled for May 2. Its end-of-year reception is set to take place on May 17.
