Playing outdoors will look different for Southlake residents in the new year.
Last month, the community services and public works department confirmed that new artificial turf will be installed on 11 playing fields between Bicentennial Park and Bob Jones Park. The Southlake city council approved the $11.6 million project to be headed by GeoSurfaces, Inc., who installed turf on the Bicentennial Park playground in early 2023. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2024 and includes four baseball fields, four softball fields, three multipurpose fields, new fencing and dugouts.
“We’re so excited to be able to offer these fields to our community,” community services director David Miller says. “The new playing surfaces will be awesome to look at, a great asset to the parks and will better accommodate the needs of our community.”
