Get an early start to Halloween this year at the Southlake DPS Trunk or Treat. On Tuesday, October 30, from 4 to 6 p.m., locals are welcome to swing by the department's headquarters to enjoy some sweets handed out by 24 different businesses around town.
Southlake DPS is hosting the event to provide a safe environment so kids could focus on savoring the holiday.
“We're putting on the Trunk or Treat so that families can have a safe and contained area to trick or treat in broad daylight with their local heroes and businesses providing treats,” Public Information Officer for Southlake DPS Brad Uptmore says. “We'd love to see all of our little fair citizens have a great and safe time in a stress-free environment for their parents.”
Kids are invited to come out in their costumes and walk through the fire bays from table to table to collect candy, which means there will be no potential incoming cars or hazards that often make Halloween night dangerous. The event will also include a costume parade and a face painter, so everyone can find something to get excited about.
Plus, rumor has it that these tables are passing out the good candy. The Facebook event page promises “those aren’t bite-size candy bars we’re hanging out (while supplies last).” So you may be able to snag a few pieces from your kids and enjoy a treat for yourself.
