Southlake DPS
The big, sleepy bear is paying a visit to the Southlake DPS station – and you and your family are invited to come out and meet him. Southlake DPS is hosting its annual holiday storytime this Wednesday at the station. Co-hosting along with Southlake Public Library staff, Southlake Fire Prevention Officer Renni Burt says this storytime will feature a special reenactment of Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman's “Bear Stays Up For Christmas.”
“This year, one of our fire lieutenants along with the library staff are going to put it into a skit that was written by our library staff,” Renni explains. “We’ll have a bear, we’ll have a Grinch. We just make it more Holiday-themed.”
In addition to the book reenactment, Southlake DPS will have a puppet show, sing-along and opportunities for children to climb aboard fire and police vehicles. Southlake DPS will also hold a winter clothing drive to benefit Christmas Is For Children. The drive will accept hats, gloves, scarves and warm socks for the organization.
The event will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at 600 State St. Come by and wish the bear and his animal friends a happy holiday!
