We know our readers love this city. Really, what's not to love? But now it's official: Southlake is one of the best cities in the state for families.
WalletHub released a report that compared 117 cities in the Lone Star State, and Southlake came out on top for best cities for families in the state. The data looked into 21 key metrics centered on personal and professional happiness and found the best areas to raise Texas families.
The Metroplex dominated the list. Every city on the top 10 list is located here in North Texas. Frisco and Allen took the top two spots with Southlake taking third. Colleyville, Flower Mound, Murphy, Keller, Plano, Coppell and McKinney finished out the list respectfully.
Southlake also has the highest cost-of-living-adjusted median family annual income at $136,291. And it also has the lowest divorce rate in the state at 8.19 percent. Neighboring Keller has the lowest property-crime rate per 1,000 residents at 5.63. That's almost 10 times lower than San Antonio, the city with the highest property-crime rate per 1,000 residents.
