Clayton Reed was named Southlake Citizen of the Year at thebr2015 Awards Banquet hosted by the Southlake Chamber of Commerce on Junebr18.
The lead pastor of the Southlake Baptist Church, Reedbrprovides guidance to many leaders in the community and often offers prayerbrbefore city council meetings. A married man with seven children, Reed has beenbran active supporter of the citizens of Southlake.
According to the press release, “He is frequently called outbrin the middle of the night helping the Southlake police with domestic calls andbrtragic loss situations.”
Like last year, this year's banquet was held at the HiltonbrTown Square and themed “Night at the Improv.” The evening featuredbrentertainment such as The Hunter Sullivan Band and comedian Paul Varghese.
“We are honored and excited to host such a great event tobrhighlight the excellence of Southlake's citizens. This community is a giving,brphilanthropic city; we want to recognize those that exceed the standard,”brChamber President Mark Guilbert says.
The Awards Banquet is a time when the Southlake Chamberbrrecognizes outstanding local leaders and businesses for making a differencebrwithin the community. The awards presented are listed below.
Citizen of the Year – the most coveted Chamber Award,brcelebrates outstanding effort, service and contribution to the community andbrrecognizing excellence in leadership to make this City a better place forbreveryone. This year's winner is Clayton Reed.
Corporate Business of the Year – recognizes andbrcelebrates the dedication and service of a business to the region and making itbra better place for all to live or do business while exemplifying a commitmentbrto excellence. This year's winner is Frost Bank.
Civic Group of the Year – recognizes and celebratesbran organization that has had a positive impact through their involvement in thebrcommunity and as a result of actions taken by the organization to improve thebrlives of others. This year's winner is SPARK (Students and Parents AgainstbrRisks to our Kids).
Small Business of the Year – recognizes andbrcelebrates service and commitment to the community while building on the City’sbrstrong business and community environment and exemplifying a commitment tobrexcellence. This year's winner is Wildwood Grill.
Volunteer of the Year – celebrates outstandingbrvolunteer service and contribution to the community and Chamber and recognizingbrexcellence in leadership, dedication to improving the lives of others, and anbrability to motivate others to follow their lead in service. This year'sbrwinne is a tie between Lindsay Polyak with Knutson CPA, LLC. and Sheri Millsbrwith GRACE.
Youth of the Year – This award recognizes a localbrstudent for dedication and achievement in the Southlake area. This year'sbrwinner is Sarah Friske.
Chamber Director of the Year - This award isbrpresented to the person who has demonstrated the utmost professionalism andbrenthusiasm with regards to chamber involvement. This year's winner is ToddbrWinch, Marriott Solana.
Chamber Chairman's Award – This award recognizesbrexceptional performance and dedication to the continued success of thebrSouthlake Chamber of Commerce in 2015. This year's winner is Mayor LaurabrHill.
Chamber President's Award – This award recognizesbrexemplary service to the Southlake Chamber of Commerce through the dedicationbrof time, resources and ideas that have served to enhance chamber success andbropportunities. This year's winner is Bill Buffington, Audit Visuals.
Ambassador of the Year – This award recognizesbrefforts going above and beyond to create a positive environment for the chamberbrmembership through dedication and service to the ambassador committee. Thisbryear's winner is Norm Downing, U.S. Health Advisors.
