Smaller cities have their perks: shorter commutes, friendly surroundings and lots of local pride. And Southlake should feel a little more proud today as it was just named in the top one percent of 2018's Best Small Cities in America.
In a recent WalletHub report, 1,200 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 were ranked on 40 different indicators. These include school-system quality, housing costs and safety. Southlake found itself in the report’s 99th percentile. It received a No. 1 ranking for housing costs and No. 4 for homeowner rate compared to the other evaluated cities.
Southlake was Texas' only small city in the top one percent. The next Lone Star State city was Sugar Land, which was in the 97th percentile.
