The Southlake Police Department has received the highly touted CALEA accreditation for the eighth time in a row.
For over 20 years, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies observed multiple police departments and recognized the best of them for going above and beyond what’s expected of them. According to MySouthlakeNews.com, there are 458 practice standards to be judged on, which includes 1,169 bullet points to maintain. In Texas specifically, only 46 out of 2,734 police departments are accredited through CALEA — and Southlake is one of the few to be accredited for multiple years ongoing.
According to MySouthlakeNews.com, Southlake Police has been recognized for the achievement since 2000, maintaining a gold standard of excellence since 2015. Over 30 interviews with department personnel were conducted over a three-day period in December.
“I am very proud of the work that our department has done to ensure we adhere to the highest standards possible,” Southlake Police Chief James Brandon says via MySouthlakeNews.com.
