On June 26, Ashleigh Casey made history as she was officially sworn in as the new Chief of Police for the city of Southlake in a public ceremony. This appointment follows the recent promotion of former Chief James Brandon to Assistant City Manager, marking a significant transition within the Southlake Police Department.
“Chief Casey brings extensive experience and a proven track record of excellence to this role,” City Manager Alison Ortowski says. “The respect she has cultivated amongst the team and community makes her exceptionally well-suited to lead the police department to new heights and navigate future challenges.”
As Southlake’s first female Chief of Police, Chief Casey brings 27 years of law enforcement experience to her new role, with an impressive 23 years of service within the Southlake Police Department. She has held the position of Assistant Chief since 2015, where her strategic vision and leadership were instrumental in guiding the department toward continuous improvement and success.
“There is no one better for this position,” James says. “I am confident in her leadership skills and ability to lead the department and partner with the community. We are fortunate that she has chosen Southlake for her law enforcement career.”
