In a recent study carried out by GOBankingRates, two DFW suburbs made the Top 15 on their list of the Top 50 Wealthiest Suburbs in the United States. The study evaluated cities and towns with at least 5,000 households, comparing average household income and average home values.
It comes as no surprise that Southlake, a veritable magnet for wealthy families with its top schools and roomy mansions, placed at No. 13 on the list. The survey showed that the suburb boasts an average household income of $360,078 and an average home value of $1.2 million.
DFW’s University Park, home to SMU, made the list at No. 6 with an average household income of $381,235 and an average home valued at a staggering $2.3 million.
While California dominated with 16 suburbs making the Top 50, Texas still had a strong showing with a total of four. Houston suburb West University Place came in third, with the average household bringing home $403,845 a year, and the typical home valued at over $1.6 million. Another Houston-area suburb, Bellaire, made the list, ranking 25th with an average income of $294,605 and a typical home worth nearly $1.08 million.
