After reverse trick or treating at HarborChase back in October, Hailey and Ryan Cawley; Ava and Abram Montoya; and Ainsley, Collin and Zachary Odum ventured back to the senior living facility to spend more time with their new friends.
The group of children ranging from ages 4-10 went back to honor National Young Readers Day on November 10 to read stories to the HarborChase residents.
“The children were very excited about going because most of them just learned to read and were excited to show of their new skills,” mom of Hailey and Ryan Erica Cawley says. “They were extremely proud when they left because the seniors enjoyed their reading and told them.”
The fun didn't stop after the children closed their books.
“After reading, the children and the seniors conversated and were sharing memories from school that past day along with their likes, and their hopes for a puppy someday,” Erica says.
Erica is working closely with the HarborChase activities director to keep planning activities like these for their calendar. These kids are proof that giving your time to others can make a difference.
