One of the biggest city celebrations will light up the sky for its 19th year: Stars and Stripes. Southlake's favorite Independence Day celebration is back and better than ever.
Thousands of locals and tourists alike are set to come out to Southlake Town Square to enjoy festive attractions and a beautiful fireworks show. But before heading out, make sure you are prepared for this year's event. Here are a few things you should know before making your way to Stars and Stripes.
Stick to the Shuttles
If you are brave enough to battle it out for the square's limited parking, have at it. But for a stress-free arrival, take advantage of the city's shuttle system. From 3:30 to 11:45 p.m., free chatter bus rides will be available at White's Chapel United Methodist Church and Gateway Church and will provide round-trip transportation to and from McPherson Park. It's the best way to ensure you have a place to safely leave your car while also taking the worry out of parking.
Make Time For All The Spots
There will be so much going on throughout the day, so be sure to come early to experience it all. Musical acts like the Southlake Community Band, Songbird Jones and Limelight Band will take on the two entertainment stages spread throughout the grounds. Your little ones will love the KidZone, which includes inflatable slides, obstacles and midway games. And they will love stopping by the Creation Station where they can make arts and crafts to remember their fun time out on the town.
Come Hungry
There will be 20 local food stands and food trucks out dishing out everything from cotton candy to burgers. Your kids will love venturing through the grounds, tasting new things and spending a little quality time with the family. For a real treat, be on the lookout for the fried Oreos. And, with all of the restaurants scattered throughout the square, there are plenty of options to choose from.
Keep An Eye On The Clock
While there are activities happening all afternoon, keep an eye on the clock to make sure you are in a prime spot when the main attraction begins. At 9:30 p.m., the firework show will begin. Thanks to the launch spot on the rooftop of the West Parking Garage, people from all over will be able to see the action. But for a premium spot, come early to reserve your spot on the square's lawn. Guests can start reserving their spots with a towel on Monday, June 2, at 7 p.m. But be warned, no one will be out on the scene protecting your belongings. It's up to you to determine if the risk is worth the reward.
