Chavezbrenjoyed a highly decorated cross country and track career at Southlake CarrollbrHS. The three-time team captain made a significant impact- during his finalbrcross country campaign, Chavez was named Texas All-State, Academic All-State,brNike Cross Nationals Team Runner-Up and received the Nike Cross NationalsbrAnchor Award for the top fifth man in the nation. Chavez is currently atbrUniversity of Richmond where he continues his running career and also on thebrUSA Mountain Running Team continuing to be at the top of his game.
Justin Leonard
Coach
A CISD teacher since 2004, Coach Justin Leonard has beenbrstrongly involved in the CISD cross country program. After becoming Head Coachbrfor the High School cross country team in 2008, Coach Leonard has led the boysbrand girls to back-to-back state championships and the CISD cross countrybrprogram was named the top program in the nation at Nike Nationals for 2011 andbr2012. He continues to teach, and volunteers as the middle school coach, leadingbra team of over 150 student athletes. Coach Justin is married to Nikki and hasbrthree children, Caitlyn, Caden, and Corbin. brThis year coach Leonard had the most collegiate signees at Carroll.
