Fusion Academy, an accredited private school serving grades 6-12, isbrscheduled to open in Southlake on September 1. This non-traditional schoolbrmodel customizes each student’s curriculum to accommodate wherever they may bebrin their education. It also allows for an emotional connection between teachersbrand students, as course material is presented at the student’s pace andbrdelivered in a way to best support their strengths and challenges.
Fusion was founded in San Diego in 1989 out of frustrationbrwith the typical school model. Fusion Academy Southlake, located at 301 StatebrSt. in Town Square, will be the sixth Fusion Academy in Texas and 33rdbrin the nation. Its model has been proven in Austin, Houston, The Woodlands,brDallas and Plano. The Dallas and Plano schools, which opened last year, havebrbeen successful with 52 students enrolled between the two. The decision to openbrthe Southlake location was made after research indicated a strong need in thebrarea for a one-to-one educational option.
“Fusion represents a revolutionary approach to learning thatbris imperative in the changing educational landscape,” says Stephen Schwartz,brHead of School at Fusion Academy Southlake. “While the traditional model worksbrwell for many, today's students require a model that transcends the one-sizebrfits all approach to learning.”
Schwartz is an educator with extensive experience in specialbreducation and tutoring. Fusion is unique in that it offers flexible schedulingbrthat enables students to spend quality time with family and friends outside thebrclassroom, while making sure they receive the instructional support necessarybrto complete assignments. At Fusion, homework is completed in the “HomeworkbrCafé” on campus, and students are signed out by their lead teacher beforebrleaving school.
