Last weekend, local nonprofit GRACE hosted a poker tournament that resulted in over $19,000 raised to serve area families in need.
Legends Hall at The Marq was decked in poker-themed decor on January 19 as 18 eager players tested their luck and skill. Surrounded by a few dozen guests, great food and exciting prizes, the participants carefully eyed their cards.
In the end, Steve Alford took the grand prize – a Vegas Vacation travel package provided by Shannon O’Brien and American Airlines. Ted Bilsky was also a star of the night in more ways than one, as his company, Scratch Kitchen provided an incredible spread and beverages, and he personally took home second place in the tournament. David Parrish joined the winning lineup in third place.
Special guest and Southlake local Bryan Campanello was on hand to provide pro tips and play a hand or two of his own. His time in the professional world of poker has earned him over $1 million in winnings and the title of World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event Champion.
The event, conceived by Lynda and Robert Warner, is now annual, as they are already planning for January 2020. That gives you plenty of time to work on your poker face!
