Bobby Witt Jr.
Since making his major league debut on April 7, 2022, Colleyville native Bobby Witt Jr. has been taking the league by storm. When he returns to his hometown next week, it will be as a 2024 MLB All-Star.
The son of former MLB pitcher Bobby Witt, who won a World Series with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001, Bobby Witt Jr. was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2019 as the second pick in the first round. Like his father, he has a strong arm, which serves him well as the Royals' everyday shortstop. And at the plate, he’s one of the league’s most exciting players, currently batting .324 — good for second place in all of baseball.
Witt Jr. will be representing the Royals in his first-ever All-Star game appearance to be held at Globe Life Stadium in Arlington on Tuesday, July 16.
