A Carroll alumna is debuting her new musical this weekend ahead of the National Women's Theatre Festival later this month.
Inspired by her great-grandmother Daphna King, Kenady Humprey's "We Can Do It!" is a 30-minute hybrid musical set during World War II. The story follows a Cherokee Rosie the Riveter as she finds her grit during one of the most pivotal moments in human history. With the show including a virtual choir and stomp performance, theatergoers are sure to enjoy this 1941 adventure that has it all.
While the show has been selected to run at the National Women's Theatre Festival June 30-July 1 in Raleigh, North Carolina, "We Can Do It!" will premiere at Grapevine's LifeStage Theater first before the production hits the road. Showtimes will take place 5, 6 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. Tickets cost $10-$20.
