Carroll student Haley Chokshi competed in the 2021 Roller Sports Figure Skating Nationals earlier this week.
Competing in both the technical and performance categories at the competition in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Haley finished seventh overall in the finals for women loops 13 and up.
“In my technical events, I was able to make it to the finals,” Haley says. “Making it to the finals felt really good, especially since I had been working so hard. It was a reminder that all my hard work pays off and it helps drive me to do better next year.”
Haley is an incoming junior at Carroll Senior High School and maintains a busy practice schedule outside of school. She practices at SkateTown 5-6 hours every week and is a part of the Skating School in Grapevine. She is coached by Robyn Young, Mike Dando, Reanon Sandlin and Steven Crow.
“I could not have made it this far without the help of my coaches,” Haley says. “They pushed me to do better and taught me everything I know.”
