The Dance of Hope is kicking off in North Texas for the first time in 16 years — and the Emerald Belles are helping lead the charge.
Primarily benefitting The Let It Be Foundation, the Dance of Hope is a fundraising benefit where many dancers and studios come together to perform and raise money for children in treatment for life-threatening illnesses. This year, senior officer Kilee Shafer will be helping the dance as the DFW co-chair and as part of the planning board, along with fellow Belles Maia Karmis, Sofia Orozco and Yuki Pilon.
“I have found a passion within helping these children find happiness during their treatment for cancer,” Kilee says. “This was sparked through my personal connection of my grandparents' battle with cancer and the toll it takes on one’s life.”
This night of dance, celebration and hope allows dancers to express themselves while emphasizing that miracles do happen. With funds going toward local DFW children's hospitals, Kilee looks forward to the night and what it will mean for children in DFW.
“I can truly say that this event will have such a positive impact in the dance community and for the children in treatment at Cook Children’s Fort Worth,” Kilee said. “The impact will be immense!”
