It seems like September is the unofficial concert month of North Texas. Sure, there are always big names coming in and out of the Metroplex, but this month's lineup really has something for everyone. So grab your gang and head over to one of these jamming events this month.
Texas Crossroads Music Series
September 5 - October 3
BASS HALL AND MCDAVID STUDIO | The new Texas Crossroads Music Series is not an ordinary music festival. The best local and regional musicians are coming to Fort Worth all month to perform for guests — and share personal stories, experiences and anecdotes about their lives over intimate acoustic sets. Every Wednesday night until October 3, a different lineup will perform at either Bass Hall or McDavid Studio. The artists include a lead singer of a Fort-Worth punk-pop band, three previous singers on NBC's “The Voice,” a country/soul/rock 'n' roll artist, a 25-year music veteran, a musician from Greece and many more. Make sure to grab tickets for all five shows for the perfect way to kick off the fall concert season!
Luke Bryan
September 8
DOS EQUIS PAVILION | Fresh from a season judging on ABC's “American Idol,” Luke Bryan is touring the world again to promote his latest album, “What Makes You Country,” his third consecutive album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The country superstar is also celebrating the release of his 20th career single, “Most People Are Good.” Sing along to his laidback, feel-good music including “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” and “Light It Up” while drinking a beer and enjoying a hot Texas summer evening.
Beyonce and Jay-z
September 11
AT&T PERFORMING ARTS CENTER | With three kids, two tours, one joint album and too much relationship drama to count, Beyonce and Jay-Z have a lot of history — and they are ready to prove to the world (once again) how in love they are. The Grammy Award-winning musicians, and one of America's favorite couples for 16 years, are coming to Dallas this month to promote their first joint album, “Everything Is Love.” Fans will love hearing some of Beyonce's best hits including “Formation” and “Crazy in Love,” as well as Jay-Z's songs like“99 Problems” and “Big Pimpin.” Of course, there will also be plenty of duets between the two, creating a perfect blend of her strong R&B vocals and his deep rap lyrics.
“Game of Thrones” Live Concert Experience
September 16
AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER | Travel to Westeros this month when the “Game of Thrones” Live Concert Experience comes to town. The concert is based on the 38-time Emmy Award-winning show based on George R. R. Martin's best-selling book series, “A Song of Ice and Fire.” Composer Ramin Djawadi will lead a full orchestra and choir through a musical journey that will take the audience through all seven seasons of the HBO show showcasing scenes of favorite characters, battles and the Seven Kingdoms set to an impressive musical background. It will be a fully immersive experience, complete with mesmerizing visuals and a custom stage design. This will be a truly magical night for GOT fans (and it will help hold them over until season 8 is finally released!).
Dierks Bentley
September 22
DOS EQUIS PAVILION | He may have shorter hair and a longer beard than when he first started, but Dierks Bentley has stayed true to his roots and remains one of the most talented singer/songwriters in country music today. Hear this multi-platinum artist at his concert this week, as the “Woman, Amen” singer performs music from his seventh chart-topping number one album, “The Mountain.” With more than one billion digital streams, two Academy of Country Music Awards and 17 No. 1 singles in his career, Dierks Bentley is serious about making good music — and having plenty of fun in the process.
Childish Gambino
September 23
AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER | In the music world, Childish Gambino is known for his lyrics that mix thought-provoking rap with comedy. In the real world, he is known as Donald Glover, an actor who starred in the NBC sitcom, “Community;” the FX series, “Atlanta,” where he won an Emmy Award; and appeared in several films including “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” This year, Gambino released his first top ten entry and No. 1 single in the U.S. with his controversial song and music video for “This is America,” and he received a Grammy Award for “Redbone.” One thing is certain for this multi-talented man: his concert will be as unique, shocking and impressive as the man behind the two names.
Ozzy Osbourne
September 26
DOS EQUIS PAVILION | The Prince of Darkness, legendary for his gothic stage makeup and dark lyrics, will be performing in Dallas for a final time as part of his two-year No More Tours 2 tour. Ozzy Osbourne first rose to fame five decades ago as the lead vocalist in the heavy metal band, Black Sabbath, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy winner is still beloved today. The “Crazy Train” singer has sold more than 100 million records throughout his career and will be performing his greatest hits including “Mr. Crowley,” “Mama, I'm Coming Home” and “Shot in the Dark” among others. Expect a head-banging, screaming, amazing night to remember.
Drake
September 26-27
AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER | Canadian-born Drake has come a long way since his days starring on the TV show, “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” Now, the Grammy-winning, platinum-selling rapper is a record-holder for the most number one hits on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart — and captures more admirers with each new release. During the concert, fans will love singing along to hits from his latest release, “Scorpion,” including “God's Plan,” “Nice for What” and “I'm Upset.” Drake may have “Started from the Bottom,” but this smooth-voiced, endlessly entertaining artist has quickly made it to the top — and shows no signs of slowing down.
5 Seconds of Summer
September 27
TOYOTA MUSIC FACTORY | Before selling out stadiums, winning awards and becoming the first Australian act to release three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 list, 5 Seconds of Summer was just a regular boy band releasing music on YouTube in 2011. Now the pop-rock group is coming to town as part of their fourth headlining tour to promote their latest album, “Youngblood.” Expect a high-energy show complete with classic 5SOS songs like “Amnesia” and “She's Looks So Perfect” mixed with latest releases “Youngblood” and “Want You Back.” Hanging out with four guys (and thousands of screaming fans) has never been so much fun!
