The American Southwest Conference just named soccer crusader Price Peden as its first-ever Man of the Year recipient.
A 2018 Grapevine Faith graduate and a 2021 soccer champion, Price Peden is a four-time all-district soccer player, earning Newcomer of the Year, District Defensive Player of the Year and District MVP twice, according to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. In addition to his athletic achievements, Price also maintained a 3.9 GPA, was previously named to the Provost and Dean’s Honor Roll and contributed to over 15 community organizations, even being named the ASC Male Community Service Athlete of the Year over the summer.
Now his academic, athletic and community achievements have led him to receiving ASC’s newest honor as 2022’s Man of the Year.
“Price Peden is the exact representation of the type of student-athlete we want here at [University of Mary Hardin-Baylor],” former head soccer coach Brad Bankhead says via media release. “He was the first to collect equipment after practice, last in line, his teammates knew him and loved him. I cannot think of a more worthy candidate.”
Graduating with his finance degree earlier this year, Price will start working on his master’s degree this fall, though that won’t stop him from continuing to be involved with the community.
“At the end of the day, soccer comes and goes,” Price says via media release. “It’s a temporary thing, but I’ve learned it’s about relationships that will last a lifetime.”
