Lorena Leigh is jumping out of the water and onto the stage for the release of her debut album next week. A Keller transplant who grew up performing and teaching in Southlake and Grapevine, Lorena is a genre-blending singer-songwriter that combines elements of country and pop into a sound that has been described as “cowgirl-mermaid.”
According to a media release, she released her first EP in 2015 titled “Bella Vista” and her second one in 2018 titled “Jellyfish Queen.” Her debut album "Water Theory" features the single “Girls Like Me" with an accompanying music video.
"I'm inspired by the ocean, and more recently space,” Lorena says via press release. “So I thought I'd just combine all concepts for my music video. I grew up on country, love riding horses and also love swimming in the ocean, so the ultimate dream for me would obviously be to ride a larger-than-life jellyfish through the sea.”
The music video was independently published through "Wonderland Magazine," an international pop-culture magazine that covers new and established talent across fashion, film, music and art. Lorena says the main thought behind “Girls Like Me” is pushing through to make your dreams happen.
“It's important to me to band around other inspired and motivated people, other authentic and brave girls like me to keep myself inspired, motivated and able to hold tight to the belief, the dream, the goal,” Lorena says via press release.
Lorena will perform during her album release party for “Water Theory” at Main at South Side in Fort Worth next week. If you would like to check her out, head over to 1002 S. Main St. in Fort Worth at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 7 and see what her unique sound has to offer. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased online at LorenaLeigh.com.
