Webrvisited Torchy's only seven days after it opened, arriving before noon —brparking spots in the area (near RunOn! and Snappy Salads) fill up quickly comebrlunchtime. The warm summer day provided the perfect setting for dining onbrTorchy's outdoor patio, complete with wooden picnic tables and wide umbrellasbroffering respite from the bright sun. Although we couldn't find a taco thatbrdidn't sound appealing, we chose the chicken fajita ($3.50), fried avocadobr($3.75) and Mr. Orange ($4.75) — a corn tortilla wrapped around blackenedbrsalmon, grilled corn and black-bean relish, queso fresco, cilantro and avocadobrsalsa. (We know — your mouth is watering.) The chicken fajita involved tender marinatedbrmeat, grilled onions and peppers, cheese and pico, while the fried avocado wasbrpacked with fresh, hand-battered avocado chunks, vegetarian refried beans, brpico, lettuce, cheese and poblano sauce.
Torchy'sbroffers tons more options like the Crossroads (smoked beef brisket plus onions, brjalapenos, jack cheese, avocado and tomatillo sauce) and Brushfire (Jamaicanbrjerk chicken with grilled jalapenos, mango, sour cream, cilantro and hotbrsauce), as well as the Democrat, Republican and Independent tacos (all worthbrtrying no matter your leaning). The chips and guacamole is a must-try (get abrhalf-order if you purchase more than one taco), and you can choose from abrvariety of Torchy's famous sauces to top your tacos — ranging from roja to diablobron the heat scale. If you've got a sweet tooth, sample Torchy's Love Puppiesbr($2.50), dark-chocolate brownies made from scratch every day, or Lil' Nookies,brdeep-fried chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped withbrripe cherries. You'll be sayin' mm, mmbrgood in no time.
Openbrat 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Torchy's is alsobra great place to start your day. Traditional breakfast tacos plus uniquebrcreations like the Wrangler (scrambled eggs, potatoes, smoked beef brisket, brjack cheese and tomatillo sauce) make it the perfect spot to get your breakfastbrfix.
