Though many of us have been told raw cookie dough could be hazardous, it's just too good to pass up. For some, the dough is even preferable to the cookie itself. But all of those worries are behind us with the arrival of Doughlicious in Grapevine.
Conveniently located off of Main Street, Doughlicious is the perfect little spot to pop in after a day of shopping or wine tasting in Downtown Grapevine. Owner Courtney Sanders and her family are longtime Grapevine residents. She was inspired to start Doughlicious after seeing a viral video of an edible cookie dough shop.
"Like many other people, I saw the video online of the one in New York, and I thought it was genius,” Sanders says. “I mean, who doesn't eat cookie dough? I'd rather eat it than actual cookies.”
To get a perspective on how it works, think ice cream shop meets cookie dough. Guests can order scoops that are served in either a cup or cone. The scoops are the same size as ice cream scoops, but as you probably could have guessed, the dough is far more dense than any soft-serve. What makes it edible? The secret is pasteurized eggs and heat-treated flour. Sanders creates custom flavors based on the time of year. For example, last month she served up rich, delectable Thin Mint cookie dough, complete with chunks of the tempting Girl Scout treat. Other flavors include chocolate chip, Reese's, sugar cookie and s'mores. To make the cookie dough edible for everyone, Doughlicious also offers gluten-free and vegan options.
Doughlicious also offers milkshakes, which are proving to be some of their most popular menu items. The cookie dough of your choosing is blended with vanilla ice cream and can include a variety of their sweet toppings. It's a level of decadence that requires a serious cheat day. Even in the winter, these cold shakes are selling like hotcakes.
Since its grand opening in November, the shop has become a hub for cookie dough lovers. And rightfully so – there aren't many places like it.
"As far as I can tell, we are the first edible cookie dough storefront in Texas to open,” Sanders says.
While the trend continues to grow, Doughlicious is the prime spot to get the scoop.
