For as long as he could remember, Alexander Griffin loved to perform. In seventh grade, he joined choir and began singing in a variety of shows and contests. It’s a love that lasted through high school, eventually earning him superior ratings and a sweepstakes trophy at last year’s UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Assessment.
“Being able to do choir throughout high school has been wonderful,” Alexander says. “I’ve grown so much as a musician, but I’ve grown as a person even more.”
It was that growth that sparked Alexander to also join the theater program as a sophomore. While his first year was filled with virtual rehearsals and variety shows, he made the most of his experience. By his junior year, he was starring in productions like “Rough Magic” and “Miss Nelson Is Missing.” Through it all, his favorite theatrical role was playing the store manager in “Elf: The Musical.”
“I had an absolute blast performing at every show,” Alexander says. “There was no better feeling than giving it my all on stage and receiving applause from the audience.”
Wherever he goes next, Alexander looks forward to majoring in political science in college and continuing to stay active in community theater and choir programs.
“I loved being a part of Carroll choir and theater,” Alexander says. “They both made a big difference in my life.”
