Is it 4:30 p.m. yet? In the Metroplex, that's the happiest time of the day, according to GoTime.com. It's when nearly 1,000 happy hours kick off at bars, pubs and restaurants all over Dallas/Fort Worth each weekday.
Think you're missing out if you don't work in uptown Dallas or downtown Fort Worth? You're not. You can find all the after-work apps, beverages and good times right here in Southlake. Here are three of our city's must-hit happy hours.
If you're serious about a great brew, The Ginger Man could very well be your new favorite happy-hour destination. This premium beer bar offers more than 60 unique beers from around the world on tap and about 75 in bottles. Not sure if you'd prefer a frosty Xingu from Brazil or an icecold Blanche de Bruxelles from Belgium? The bartenders will gladly put their beer prowess to work to ensure your palate is pleased.
The happy hour details: Get $1 off most pints and talls from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Why we love it: With a full wall of beer on tap, TVs that aren’t overly obtrusive, and a friendly round of darts underway in the corner, The Ginger Man has an undeniably authentic pub atmosphere. The bites aren’t your typical bar fare, though. We love sinking our teeth into a chickencranberry sandwich or dunking a square of warm flat bread into red-pepper hummus.
2. Truluck's
When you think of Truluck's, fresh-from-the-ocean seafood or tender, perfectly seasoned steaks probably come to mind. But there's another reason this Southlake favorite should be on your radar when 4:30 rolls around: It has a phenomenal happy hour. Officially called the “Half Price Cocktail Hour,” you can kick off your evening with an appetizing array of light bites, cocktails and select wines – all for a cool 50-percent off. There's also live piano entertainment seven nights a week.
The happy hour details: Enjoy half-price cocktails, select wines and appetizers for half price from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. daily in the Stone Crab Lounge.
Why we love it: It’s hard to beat the elegant ambience at Truluck’s. Candles are aglow on the tables, and the sounds from the piano melt away any stress from the day. Oh, and the cocktails and appetizers are to die for – especially the sangria and seared beef crostini. Our only advice: Get there early. Seating goes quick during happy hour.
3. Sushi Zushi
You've probably seen the Sushi Zushi car zipping around town, but this Southlake sushi spot serves up more than modern Japanese fare – it also has a can't-miss happy hour complete with beautifully plated, fl vorful rolls and creative signature drinks. (We recommend the cucumber saketini.) The place can get a little packed during happy hour, but the staff won't forget about you. They're friendly, quick and attentive.
The happy hour details: Sip on $5 signature cocktails and savor specially priced appetizers and rolls daily from 3 to 7 p.m.
Why we love it: The upscale atmosphere and impressive selection of sake won us over. We like that you can order the sake how you want it: by the glass, small carafe or bottle.
