The 15th annual Schmidt & Jones Awards were recently held at Moody Performance Hall, and three local programs received some of the highest honors from the evening.
According to a media release, Liberty Christian School won Best Ensemble while Presley Anderson and Gigi Plisga won Best Choreography for their production of “Singing In The Rain.” Bradford Arnold won Best Supporting Actor for playing Wolf in Grapevine High School’s production of “Into The Woods.” Meanwhile, Keller student Grace Betts won Best Actress in a Minor Role for playing the part of Race in Harvest Christian Academy’s production of “Newsies Jr.”
“Established in 2010 and named after renowned composer Harvey Schmidt and lyricist Tom Jones, these awards honor excellence in high school musical theater across Dallas-Fort Worth,” LyricStage general manager Scott Guenther says. “The evening featured performances by nominated schools, productions and performers, and they were amazingly talented.”
