On April 7, highbrschool students from all over Southlake will come together for one day of servicebrwith The Dragon Event.
The Dragon Eventbris a student-led project that aims to give back to the community. This yearbrmarks its inaugural event. Students will be serving by partnering withbrdifferent organizations and assisting in meaningful tasks that would make abrdifference around town, like gardening and meal packing. Every high school studentbrand faculty member is invited out to get involved.
The Big Event, hosted by Texas A&M University,brinspired Carroll Senior High School junior Jacqueline Hall to start an annualbrservice event in her hometown. Her goalbris to bring together the wide variety of teams, clubs and students for thebrcommon purpose of giving back. Next Saturday, those willing to participatebrshould check-in at Dragon Stadium at 7:30 a.m. From there, attendees can expectbra rewarding day of work that concludes around noon. Carroll ISD staff willbrprovide transportation to and from various projects after check in.
Each group of volunteers will be assigned a differentbrorganization to help out with, such as Run4Elise and Miracle League. Studentsbrwill receive National Honor Society /service hours for participation. Seniorsbrwill also receive a graduation medal.
Student leadership behind The Dragon Events includesbrdirector Jacqueline Hall; chairpersons Jacob Askew, Paul Venesky, Kelly Alspaw,brRachel Gitter and Jack Tucker. Anika Shah, Aubrey Parr and Minnah Shafi servebras co-chairpersons. Committee membersbralso include Charlotte Lanier, Abby Flaherty, Emily Kennedy, Nate Lannen, LibbybrLester, Hannah Holmes, Katie Connell, Anna Claire Morris, and secretary WalkerbrSouthern.
