Two new faces will be joining Carroll ISD’s administrative team this month. During the administrative services portion of the school board’s June 7 meeting, the board introduced two new hires that will serve as the district’s newest executive communications director and assistant superintendent for staff and student services respectively.
With more than 25 years of communications experience, Karen Fitzgerald has previously served as the assistant superintendent of engagement and strategic initiatives for Midlothian ISD for four years before her hiring at Carroll ISD. Before Midlothian, Karen also worked in public relations for Clear Creek ISD for three years, the Engage2Learn development company for six years and Lewisville ISD for eight years.
“Ms. Fitzgerald is a strategic thinker and is highly skilled in engaging a wide range of community stakeholders that will enhance our vision of fostering excellence,” deputy superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter says. “She will be an excellent addition to our Dragon family.”
Additionally, Gordon Butler II has 19 years of education experience under his belt prior to his hiring. Currently working as the Lake Travis High School principal for the past five years, he’s also taught social studies from fifth to eighth grade and served as an assistant and high school principal for McKinney ISD.
“With his wide variety of experiences at all levels of K-12, as well as experience at the campus and central office, Mr. Butler brings a wealth of knowledge that makes him the ideal candidate for this position,” CISD Superintendent Dr. Lane Ledbetter says.
Karen will start working with the district on Monday, June 14, while Gordon will begin on Monday, June 21.
