One of Southlake Carroll's sophomores will be traveling to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York next week.
Selected for the High School Honors Performance Series earlier this month, Malaika Nair has studied music for over 10 years. She's a member of several music groups, including the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas, the Texas Music Educators All-Region Concert Choir and Carroll's varsity choir. According to a media release, she's received a superior rating of 1 every year she participated in the UIL Solo and Ensemble competition.
On Feb. 4, Malaika will perform once again with the Honors Treble Choir at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, where she will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned conductors, work with other performers and get a taste of New York.
"I am grateful to have been chosen to be part of the Honors Performance Series choir and sing at Carnegie Hall in New York," Malaika says. "I am so thankful for everyone who has supported me along the way, including my family, friends, directors and all of my choir teachers."
