Grapevine Faith Christian School took home the top honors at the fourth annual Schmidt & Jones Awards last month.
Named after composer Harvey Schmidt and lyricist Tom Jones, the Schmidt & Jones Awards recognizes outstanding high school theater productions in the DFW Metroplex. Competing against 16 other schools in the area, Grapevine Faith’s spring production of “Annie Get Your Gun” secured nine nominations total, including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Male Ensemble.
In the end, not only did the production win Best Show — its lead, graduate Tilly Hillje, also won Best Actress as the sharp-shooting lead.
“Standing with our amazing students as they were honored for all their hard work was so special,” says Scott Werntz, Grapevine Faith creative arts director. “Pure joy was in everyone’s eyes. But what thrilled my heart the most is when they huddled together on the stage in front of everyone and prayed [in] thanksgiving to God.”
