Tornado Watch In Effect Until 7 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for our immediate area until 7 p.m. tonight. Storms are already forming to the North and West of the Southlake area, with a 90 percent chance of severe storms in North Texas between 1 and 4 p.m.
CISD is canceling ALL after school and evening events for Tuesday, May 21. Due to the volatile weather conditions, we want to avoid any unnecessary travel for our students, staff and parents this evening. Athletic competitions and special events will be rescheduled at a later date.
In light of yesterday's events in Oklahoma, we understand if there are Carroll ISD parents who want to pick their children up early from school today. Please follow the standard check-out procedures at your child's campus well in advance of any approaching storms.
We will continue to operate on a regular schedule today while we monitor the National Weather Service and communicate with our campuses. In the event bad weather is imminent during school dismissal time, CISD will hold students inside the building in a safe area until the emergency passes.
CISD considers the safety or our staff and students a top priority. Please monitor CISD's Twitter, Facebook and website at the links below, as well as the Southlake Department of Public Safety's Twitter account.
