SRO Of The Year
Southlake Kiwanis recently awarded two school resource officers with their highly esteemed Heart of Service Awards.
Recognizing the hard work of all of the district’s distinguished officers serving our campuses, Southlake Kiwanis recently bestowed SRO of the Year Awards for the 2023-2024 school year. For embodying the spirit of service and safety at Carroll Middle School, Brett Roberson was named the SRO of the Year for 2023.
“From offering personal support to addressing emergency needs, whether in collaboration with our staff in emergencies or engaging with students in the car and lunch line, officer Roberson is a testament to the profound impact a dedicated school resource officer can have on a school community,” Carroll Middle School administration says in a statement via MySouthlakeNews.com. “We are immensely grateful to have her as part of our team.”
But she wasn’t the only officer who was honored. For his work at Carroll Senior High School, officer Corey Rattan was recognized as the SRO of the Year for 2024.
“Officer Rattan is not just a guardian of our school grounds — he is a mentor, a role model and a friend to our students,” principal Chsitina Benhoff says via MySouthlakeNews.com. “He is the first one to show up to a Chinese Club meeting, the first to get on the dance floor at homecoming to show off his moves, the first to lend a helping hand when there’s physical labor to be done and the first to jump in when there’s a threat to the same campus that we all love.”
Congratulations to both of these officers, and thank you for your continued dedication to the safety and well-being of our schools and students.
