The Southlake Association for Gifted and Talented supports Carroll Independent School District in efforts to promote and encourage the education of gifted and talented students and to advance academics in the district.
To support the organization's mission, SAGT offers a monthly Teacher Recognition Award. The program is designed to shine a light on classroom teachers who bring GT elements to the classroom or instruct students to think “outside the box”.
This month, SAGT members presented Carroll ISD teacher Donna Clarrissimeaux with the Teacher Recognition Award. She received a certificate, sign and a sweet treet from SAGT representative Kristin Jesser.
Clarrissimeaux teaches 4th grade at Walnut Grove Elementary School. Parents say she shows enthusiasm in the classroom and encourages students to “dig deeper” in language arts. Clarrissimeaux gives her student the option of writing, illustrating and publishing a book while challenging each child to redefine their personal best. Clarrissimeaux has been a teacher for over 40 years and has been a Dragon for the past eight years.
