The Carroll Senior High School gallery is “Under Construction” with student drawings, paintings and photographs filling the exhibit. The Carroll High and Senior High art departments assembled its first show of the year called “Under Construction,” which features student work from both campuses.
“This is the first show of the school year,” Carroll High art teacher Eric Horn says. “It is the show where our students not only get to display their work, but students learn what it takes to host a show. From designing, displaying, planning, promoting and the eventual taking down of the work, the students have an active role.”
Art staff selected the featured student work and installed them into this two-week gallery. While most of the exhibit pieces are two-dimensional, there are a few three-dimensional pieces in the show, including some fashion designs, sculptures and an installation.
“Being so early in the year and covering such a broad range of classes and skill levels, this show is always varied and entertaining,” Eric says. “I, personally, would like to have all of our students participate in showing their work. In having the work up, it gives both the faculty and students an opportunity to see what the other students are doing. It also becomes an opportunity for evaluating and sharing ideas.”
The show is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carroll Senior High School gallery, located at 1501 W. Southlake Blvd. The show runs until October 31.
