During the school year, it seems like the Carroll Dragons are constantly adding to the trophy cases. School may not be in session, but that doesn't stop the Carroll Clay Target team from displaying Dragon excellence. Case in point, they earned first place at their national debut.
"We went up to Ohio for the first time ever as a team," says Laird Fairchild, president of the Carroll Clay Target board. "We actually had fundraisers throughout the year to take our team to nationals."
The team has consistently been competitive at a state level, often earning second behind the Allen team.
"We actually beat Allen this year at state, so we actually felt pretty confident going into nationals," Fairchild says. "Our athletes had a phenomenal day in sporting clays and took home the national title."
