Southlake Carroll Dragons Off to a FastbrStart at Greenhill Six Mile Cross Country Relay

ThebrSouthlake Carroll cross-country team’s training paid off at the Greenhill SixbrMile Relay to start the season. Thebrrelay race has been a mainstay on the Texas high school cross-country schedulebrfor years and marks the start of the season for many teams. Showingbrgreat depth, the Southlake Carroll cross-country team took four first-placebrfinishes.
“Thebrteams performed well for their 2013 season opener, “ said Coach JustinbrLeonard. “We are excited about thebrdirection we are headed, but we also realize how much work lies in front of usbrto reach our ultimate goal.”
ThebrCarroll Boys Elite Varsity team broke the course record, previously held by thebr2011 Carroll team. The relay team ofbrConnor Hendrickson, Jacob Pickle, Eli Canal and Johnny Kemps set the recordbrwith a time of 29:47. This first-place finish gives the boys' team the honor ofbrwearing the coveted yellow jersey in next year's race. Highland Park followedbrwith 2nd place; Flower Mound took 3rd; Northwest placed 5th;brCoppell finished 6th; and Carroll’s Varsity team placed 7th withbrrunners Brent Aydon, Eric Karl, Luke Lanham and Kyle Polansky.
ThebrCarroll Girls Elite Varsity team grabbed 2nd place with a team ofbrKatie Burnham, Sam Young, Tig Archer and Kayli Jones. Flower Mound took 1st; HighlandbrPark placed 3rd; Northwest was 4th; and Carroll’s Varsitybrtook 7th place with Haley McFadden, Sarah Odneal, Izzy Dominquez andbrMoriah Dadson.
ThebrSouthlake Carroll JV-A Boys took 1st and 3rd place inbrtheir division with the first-place team of Eric Vetere, Ansel Richards, TimoubrToure and Joseph Zapiniski. The JV-A Girls team who took 1st includedbrKate Brekken, Ari Lopez, Rianna Randolph and Madison Schumm. The other JV-A Girls team had a 3rdplace finish.
SouthlakebrCarroll cross-country had 32 teams participate in the Greenhill Six Mile CrossbrCountry Relay. Next week, the team travels to Denton for the Marcus IbrInvitational.
