Dragons Hot at Chile Pepper Invitational
Fayetteville, Arkansas and Hurst, Texas – Southlake Carrollbrtakes first in the Boys and Girls divisions at the Chile Pepper Invitationalbrheld at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. In its 24th year, the ChilebrPepper Cross Country Festival is now one of the premier running events inbrAmerica. Each year over 80 college teams and 120 high school teams run at thebrUniversity of Arkansas' grassy, rolling off road course perfect for hot competitors.
With 54 schools and 410 runners in the competition, thebrSouthlake Carroll Lady Dragons Varsity-I ran away with first with only 22brpoints to the runner-up Lady Dragon Varsity-II with 170. Five Lady Dragon's runners finished in thebrtop 10.
The Boys competition included 64 teams and 494 runners readybrto run. Not to be out done, the Southlake Carroll Varsity-I Boys were on firebrwith six runners in the top 10, the boys scored 19 points to beat Bentonville'sbr(Bentonville, Arkansas) 115 points for second. The Dragon Varsity-II grabbedbr6th place.
“All teams did well this weekend,” said Southlake CarrollbrCoach, Justin Leonard. “The Chile Pepper Festival is a great course and racingbrenvironment for our runners to compete. brThe teams wanted to have a good race to propel them into thebrchampionship portion of their season and I feel they did.”

Leading the JV Dragon Girls with 1st place, Amelia Ahner,br9th Moriah Dadson, 11th Haley McFadden, 12th Jordan Miller, 16th Holly Morgan,br22nd Remington Jorgenson and completing the top 7, 23rd Whitney Woods. The JV Boys top 7 include; 10th Kyle Polanski, 11th JakebrOldroyd, 14th Alex Riera, 21st Eric Karl, 22nd, Chase Haddock, 25th AnselbrRichards and 49th Danny Vegel.
Next Meet: The teams compete October 25th in the District meet at OakbrGrove Park in Grapevine to advance to the Regional meet in Lubbock Novemberbr3rd.
