Robert Barnes and Obi Eboh are all smiles after proclaiming their commitments to play in the Big 12.
Southlake Carroll defensive backs Obi Eboh and Robert Barnes will be taking their talents to the Big 12 in the near future.
Eboh made a verbal commitment to Texas on Saturday while Barnes gave Oklahoma a pledge on Monday.
“I think both made really great decisions,” said Southlake Carroll head coach Hal Wasson. “I'm really proud of both of them. Both are great young men and are great ambassadors for the Dragon program. I think they will be great players in college.”
Eboh, a senior and team captain, received an offer from the Longhorns last Tuesday and decided to commit just days after earning the scholarship. Eboh picked Texas over offers from Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and others.
At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Eboh is considered one of the top cornerback prospects in the state in the 2016 class. He was a first team all-district selection in 2014.
Barnes, a junior, is already one of most highly touted safeties in the 2017 class. Barnes chose Oklahoma over scholarships from Alabama, Baylor, Texas and a number of other major programs.
Barnes will be following in his father's footsteps — Reggie Barnes played linebacker for the Sooners and spent time in the NFL with both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys.
With their decisions out of the way, both will be fully focused on helping the Dragons exceed expectations this season. Southlake Carroll currently sits at 1-1 overall.
