More than a dozen Carroll student athletes signed scholarships in football, cross country and soccer at Carroll Senior High School Wednesday.
The National Letter of Intent Signing Day ceremony highlights the stellar achievements of Dragon seniors who have received and accepted scholarships to their specific universities.
The signees include cross country and track stars Connor Henderickson, Jacob Pickle and Samantha Young who will all attend the University of Texas.
Third time is a charm for Carroll cross country and track. The district champions are 'three-peat' winners, carrying on the tradition of keeping Dragon Nation proud and loud.
Carroll Dragon seniors Adaryan Jones and JB Copeland are committed to New Mexico State and will continue to be football powerhouses for the Aggies.
Jones was the defensive senior captain, leading the team in pass breakups last season with 21.
Copeland was a First Team All-District selection, finishing his last season with 72 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions and a touchdown.
Similarly, Dragon captain senior Evan Brown signed with Southern Methodist University and was the only returning starter from last year's season. Evan was a first team all-district performer.
Future Husker Drew Brown is following in his big brother Kris Brown's footsteps. Drew made a name for himself as one of the more consistent kickers in Dragon history, nailing nine out of 10 kicks last season.
Son of former Dallas Cowboy A.J. Tolbert will carry on the family tradition at Abilene Christian University. Tolbert received Second Team District honors.
Steven Bergmark accepted a scholarship from Tarleton State where he will continue to be a powerhouse for the Texas Rider defensive line. Bergmark was a First Team All-District, finishing last season with 131 tackles.
Other student athletes include soccer stars Walker Beasley, Alya Shams and Emma Scheffler.
