On Wednesday morning, the Student Activity Center at Carroll Senior High School was filled with family and friends there to watch and support 29 Carroll athletes representing 10 different sports who signed letters of intent for Fall Signing Day.
“What an amazing group and an amazing fanbase,” Steve Keasler, Carroll ISD’s athletic director said at the beginning of the ceremony. “[It’s] unbelievable this morning.”
Keasler thanked the staff at Carroll Senior High that helped put the ceremony together and all the coaches.
“Once a Dragon, always a Dragon,” Keasler said to the athletes participating in Signing Day. “We’re super, super proud of you. Congratulations on your efforts and your abilities and continue the success that you’ve had on the field, on the court or whatever it may be and take it on to the next level.”
Shawn Duhon, the principal of Carroll Senior High also spoke at the ceremony.
“It’s a joyous time; it’s a celebration to come in and recognize these student-athletes for all that they do,” he said.
After thanking the staff, Duhon also thanked the athletes’ parents.
“These young men and women are going to go off to their respective schools and compete and challenge themselves but also be one of those individuals that are going to make it,” Duhon said. “We congratulate you guys. We appreciate everything y’all do because not only [are they] great student-athletes, but you’ve got great people of character up here."
Following the comments from Keasler and Duhon, the 29 student-athletes each had a turn to sit at the table to sign their letters of intent and take photos with their families.
Congratulations to these students!
