Carroll Cross Country hosted the Carroll Dragon XC Classic at Bob Jones Park this past weekend, which resulted in plenty of Southlake victories.
“First off, we would like to thank everyone that helped with the Carroll XC Classic. Our runners did an outstanding job in every division,” head coach Justin Leonard says via press release. “We competed, and that mentality will pay dividends at our district meet on October 17th. We have one regular season weekend remaining before championship season begins.”
During the Saturday, September 28 competition, the Dragons finished first in the Open Varsity Boys race. Mason Alexander, who placed sixth overall, led the team. Issac Chavez, Grant Anderson, Logan Schaunaman and Bryan Fernando also scored for the Dragons. Southlake finished second in the Open Varsity Girls race with Grace Williamson coming in second place overall. Payton Wichman, Kate Reppeto, Caitlyn Midkiff and Nikoletta Schockley also scored for the team.
Junior varsity also put up great finishes with the Junior Varsity Elite Boys placing first. Bruner Lind, who finished first overall, led the team with Nick Langenburg, Bode Keiser, Levi May and Ethan Satsky also racking up points. The Junior Varsity Elite Girls came in fourth and were led by Rachel Moon who placed sixth overall. Mie-Ava Anderson, Karley Beall, Riley Calvin and Olivia Abram also scored for the team. Junior Varsity Boys Open came in sixth and were led by Hunter Morrison, who placed 20th overall. Junior Varsity Girls Open came in fourth and were led by Kellen Dukes.
The Dragons are gearing up for their next set of cross country meets on Saturday, October 5. Carroll runners will either head to the Chile Pepper Festival XC Meet in Arkansas or The Reunion Run at Joe Wheeler Park in Decatur.
