The Southlake Carroll girls cross-country team finished first at the Chile Pepper XC Festival in Arkansas over the weekend.
According to a press release, senior Kaylie Cox led the girls team, finishing 18th with a time of 18:46. Junior David Fisher led the boys team, finishing 20th with a time of 15:42. The Carroll boys team also finished third in the meet overall.
“This was a great win for our young ladies today,” Southlake Carroll head coach Justin Leonard says via press release. “This event always attracts some of the best high school teams in the region, and coming out on top is a great way to finish our regular season. The boys battled hard too, and I feel good about our teams heading into the district meet.”
The District 4-6A Championships will take place on Oct. 14 at Bob Jones Park. The boys team are 11-time defending district champions, while the girls previously won two consecutive district titles.
