Southlake Carroll has a tradition of producing stellar Landry Award-winning athletes. Now, Owen Allen is helping to continue that tradition.
Earlier this week, Carroll's record-breaking running back, who has completed over 7,000 career rushing yards total, was named a finalist for the Landry Award, a recognition given to the top high school football player in North Texas. Joining Owen as finalists are Everman defensive tackle Kevin Allen, Denton Guyer quarterback Jackson Arnold, Frisco Lone Star defensive back Jaylon Braxton and Desoto wide receiver Johntay Cook. Dragon running back T.J. McDaniel previously won the Landry Award in 2018, while head coach Riley Dodge won Coach of the Year in 2019.
Fans can vote for Owen online, and the winner of the public voting will receive a vote in the panel balloting, according to its website. The Landry Award winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 12.
