Both boys and girls Southlake Carroll Cross Country teams kicked off the season in style, sweeping at the Timber Creek Falcon Fest Invite.
The boys finished with 24 points, surpassing second-place Keller coming in at 67. Senior Antonio Florcruz, who finished first at 15:53, led the team and was followed by Bennett Woolsey, who finished third, Bryan Fernando, who finished fourth, Isaac Chavez who finished seventh, and Brian McCarthy, who finished ninth.
The girls were just as successful, securing 31 points and a three-point victory over Colleyville Heritage. Junior Kaylie Cox finished second overall and was followed by senior Abigail McIlvain, who came in third, sophomore Audrey Dunn, who came in fifth, senior Grace Williamson, who came in ninth, and junior Olivia Jones, who came in 12th.
JV also collected wins in their respective wins, with the girls finishing 44 points ahead of second-place Keller Timber Creek and the boys winning by 48 over Colleyville Heritage. The JV teams will next compete at the Keller Invitational on October 3 and the varsity Dragons will head to the Marcus I Invitational next, hosted in Denton on October 10.
