S. Johnson/Snapped Dragons
Southlake Carroll has announced its football schedule for 2024.
After a 13-2 season where 25 Dragons were named All-District performers and another seven were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association’s All-State Team, the Dragons’ matchups for 2024 have been set.
This year’s schedule will be quite familiar and still includes the budding rivalry with Trophy Club Byron Nelson. However, it does come with one big change that fans are going to love— a renewed rivalry with Euless Trinity is again on the books as the Trojans are realigned into District 4-6A with Southlake for the first time since 2017.
The season will officially begin on Aug. 30 when the Dragons host the Midland Bulldogs at Bob Ledbetter Field. Returning their leading rusher in rising senior Elijah McCoy (1,548 yards, 23 TDs) the Bulldogs finished at 9-3 a year ago and will be a formidable opponent. The home opener will bring even more fanfare than usual, as the Dragons are set to celebrate First Responder’s Night.
District play will start with a bang on Sept. 13 against Trophy Club Byron Nelson, followed by games against Trinity, Keller Timber Creek and Keller on Sept. 20, Sept. 27 and Oct. 4. The regular season’s close will see the Dragons host LD Bell on Senior Night on Oct. 25 and finish on the road against Keller Central on Nov. 1.
The Dragons will then celebrate the final week of the regular season with a bye to rest up before what fans hope to be a long and successful postseason march.
