Former Carroll kicker Garrett Hartley, Class of 2004, takes his NFL career to the East Coast, signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
"Truly blessed to be part of the @steelers !!#SteelersNation not even 24 hours & yet yall make it feel like home," according to a tweet he put out on Tuesday, along with the above photo.
Hartley has a Super Bowl ring from his time with the New Orleans Saints, along with fellow former Dragons, Chase Daniel (now with the Chiefs) and Justin Drescher.
The Steelers had an immediate need for a kicker this week, as regular starter Shaun Suisham is expected to miss the entire season with a torn ACL, which he suffered in Sunday's Hall of Fame game. Jay Feely and Alex Henery were also on the Steelers' radar, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, but the team eventually went with Hartley.
Steelers Depot reported the deal is a one-year contract at league minimum.
